The device

Small, plain, and pointed at one job.

A 3.5" colour touchscreen touchscreen, a magnetic sensor for the door frame, and a USB-C cable. It is meant to disappear into a hallway rather than announce itself.

See it work

A minute and a half: a reminder sent from a phone on the other side of the city, the door opening, the screen lighting up, and the sender watching it turn to Done.

Then the same thing again with the Wi-Fi router unplugged, because that is the part people do not believe.
